Thuasne Series Overview & Features
Thuasne USA’s premier knee orthosis was the Rebel Reliever. Since its introduction, the brace has undergone multiple iterations, but they all include the following outstanding features:
- Lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum construction.
- TM5+ knee joints designed to be anatomically knee centered and accommodate for anterior translation after flexion and extension.
- Synergistic suspension strap to bolster the tibia at the calf to prevent rotation.
- Optional compression/suspension (C/S) package strap, which includes anterior straps at the calf the thigh to prevent migration.
In this segment, Jak and Liz discuss ways to measure and order the Rebel Series Knee Orthosis.
Option 1: Off-the-shelf - The first option clinicians can use to measure and order a brace is to reference the sizing chart located on the SPS product pages.
Option 2: Three Measurement System – If the off-the-shelf does not include the patient’s size, the clinician can collect the following measurements and input the details when ordering via the SPS product page:
- Circumference six inches above mid-patella
- Medial-lateral knee width (not circumference) at knee center
- Circumference 6 inches below mid-patella
Measuring and ordering any brace within the Rebel Series is easy on the SPS Online Store. For more information, connect with your SPS Sales Account Manager or explore the Rebel Series product pages.
Thuasne USA Rebel Ligament VS. Rebel Reliever Overview
The general construction of the Rebel Ligament knee orthosis and the Rebel Reliever knee orthosis are exactly the same. They both feature a lightweight aluminum construction, tibia bolster at the calf, and optional compression/suspension (C/S) package straps. The main difference between the two braces is the load shifters on the side of the Rebel Ligament knee orthosis, which allows for up and down adjustments to accommodate for medial or lateral unload. Depending on what portion of the knee clinicians want to unload, the notches on the side and locking mechanism allows them to slide the brace into a varus or valgus position.
