The Clinical Minute: Elevate Dynamics AFO1 HelixBand

Elevate Dynamics’ AFO1 product line includes the HelixBand, FreeFlow, and Glide. The AFO1 all-sizes-in-one design can be customized with a pair of shears to fit a variety of patients, which helps to save inventory space and reduce overhead costs for your clinic.

The HelixBand can be used in combination with the AFO1 FreeFlow or AFO1 Glide to help patients presenting with flexible deformity. This strapping system dynamically influences the position of the mid-foot and calcaneus to control varus or valgus instability, as well as control the internal and external rotation of the tibia, while positively influencing the alignment of the ankle and knee. 

The HelixBand is made of static and elastic material, which allows movement throughout the gait phases. It attaches to the FreeFlow or Glide in the varus or valgus support positions. Velcro attaches the HelixBand to the AFO1 footplate and wraps around the tibia to connect to the back of the FreeFlow or to the front of the Glide.

The unique spiral design allows the HelixBand to support both the sagittal and frontal planes. The multiplanar support corrects alignment for patients and prevents the tibia from rotating.
