The recent enactment of the Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) by Congress in late 2022 mandates Medicare coverage of supply items for lymphedema patients encompassing compression garments and bandaging supplies, with coverage starting on January 1, 2024. Since the inception of the LTA in 2010, the medi® team has played a pivotal role in the passage of the bill and advising the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) through the United States Medical Compression Advocacy group to formulate coverage and fee schedules. 

The pioneering surgical procedure, Targeted Muscle Reinnervation, made its debut in 2002. Since then, the procedure has adapted to treat a variety of upper and lower limb patients at the time of amputation or post amputation. One such adaptation is the Starfish Procedure developed by Dr. Bryan Loeffler and Dr. Glenn Gaston at OrthoCarolina.
